Cleaning the bathroom isn’t something most people enjoy, but it’s a necessary task to keep a safe and healthy home. Follow these bathroom cleaning tips to make the process easier and faster.
Gather Your Bathroom Cleaning Supplies
Bathroom cleaning may not always be at the forefront of your mind, so having cleaning supplies within reach is an excellent way to encourage more frequent cleaning. Keep wipes, a mop or broom, and cleaning solution under the sink or in a nearby cabinet for easy access.
Organize Before Cleaning the Bathroom
It’s difficult to clean any space that is filled with clutter. Before deep-cleaning the bathroom, sort the items stored there. Start by decluttering the medicine cabinet and under the sink and dispose of things that you no longer use or that are expired. Organize surplus shower and beauty supplies in labeled bins beneath the sink.
Tackle the Shower and Tub
Spray a cleaning solution in your tub/shower and let it sit for a few minutes. This helps loosen the dirt and grime, so it is easier to remove when you start to scrub. To keep the bathtub clean, install a device that catches loose hair in the drain. You’ll prevent clogs, which contribute to a build-up of grime in the tub.
Polish the Glass
To clean the mirrors, spray with glass cleaner and wipe with a microfiber towel for a streak-free shine. If the shower door in your bathroom is glass, clean it by spraying on a white vinegar and water mixture, letting it sit for a few minutes, and then scrubbing with a sponge dipped in baking soda. This combination helps dissolve stubborn stains on the door, leaving it shiny and looking like new.
Clean Around the Toilet
No bathroom cleaning would be complete without a clean toilet. Spray the inside with a toilet cleaner that contains disinfectant and scrub with a toilet brush. Clean the area surrounding the toilet: first with a dry cloth, then with an all-purpose cleaner and a damp sponge.
Cleaning the Bathroom Floor
Start by running a dry microfiber cloth over the floors to remove dust and debris. Next, mop the floor. A steam-cleaning machine is a useful tool for tile and linoleum floors. It removes stubborn dirt and disinfects with steam.
Shine the Fixtures
Use a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water and spray chrome fixtures, such as the showerhead and faucet. Scrub the fixtures with a toothbrush or microfiber cloth (including around the drain) and rinse clean.
